"Special" £40 million ace wants to join Chelsea and partner Nicolas Jackson

A £40 million player is very keen to join Chelsea this summer and specifically wants to partner, or compete, with current forward Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea hold talks over signing Olise and Duran

Reports in the last week have suggested that Chelsea have held talks over signing Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, as well as Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

The Blues contacted Palace chiefs over Olise last week, as per reliable media outlets like The Guardian, as they sought to find out the conditions of a potential deal. The 22-year-old's contract includes a complex £60 million release clause, which is apparently only valid for Champions League clubs, meaning Chelsea may have to pay more or offer players in negotiations.

There have been suggestions that Chelsea could offer Noni Madueke in a player-plus-cash bid for Olise, and as they attempt to get that move over the line, they're are also weighing up the transfer of Duran from Villa.

The young Colombian striker bagged just eight goals in 37 appearances across all competitions last term but is very highly rated at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have a £40 million deal agreed in principle for Duran, but they're reportedly eyeing alternatives before they formally press ahead.

Duran wants to play with Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea

The Standard have an update on their pursuit this week, and they claim the 20-year-old is excited by the prospect of linking up with Enzo Maresca.

Duran is very keen on joining Chelsea and wants to play alongside Nicolas Jackson, as he looks to compete with or partner the Senegalese in Maresca's team. The South American also believes he's an ideal fit for both Maresca's system and Chelsea's longer-term vision. If Chelsea settle on Duran as their striker signing, it's added they're confident of bringing him to west London.

"Jhon Duran is a special player," said Aston Villa manager Unai Emery.

"We have to try and help him. He is a good guy, and he needs a team behind him. He is getting our demands better. He was very clinical and today was important for him.

West Ham now prepared to pay for speedy winger who Moyes wanted last summer

West Ham are now willing to pay the required sum in order to land an old transfer target of David Moyes, according to reports.

West Ham transfer rumours

West Ham ended 2023/24 sat 9th in the Premier League, missing out on any form of European football. It is now set to be a busy few months at the London Stadium. Julen Lopetegui has been brought into the dugout to replace David Moyes, and the former Wolves boss is no doubt keen to strengthen his new side.

Despite the transfer window not yet opening, the east Londoners have already been linked with a plethora of names, including the likes of FC Barcelona forward Vitor Roque and Brentford star Ivan Toney.

Elsewhere, reports last week claimed that a deal is close to being completed for Palmeiras midfielder Luis Guilherme, who looks set to become Lopetegui's first signing since succeeding Moyes in the capital. West Ham are also said to be rivalling the likes of Bayer Leverkusen for the signing of Girona's Aleix Garcia, while reports in Portugal have suggested that West Ham have held discussions over the potential signing of Jota Silva, who currently plies his trade for Vitoria Guimaraes.

West Ham now prepared to pay for past Moyes target

Now, a fresh name, or rather an old name, has emerged as a transfer target for West Ham this summer. The player in question is Filip Kostic. The winger joined Juventus in 2022 and made 33 appearances this past season, providing four assists in the process.

Kostic is under contract in Turin until 2026 but reports emerging from Italy claim that the 31-year-old is attracting interest from three Premier League clubs in the form of West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton. And despite still being a regular for Juve, the Italian outfit will reportedly take £8m for him, which West Ham are said to be willing to pay.

The Serbian is a long-term target of the Hammers, with ex-manager David Moyes attempting to sign him on deadline day last summer, even naming him personally in a press conference. That interest has seemingly returned and while not a major signing, such a low fee for a Europe-proven talent with plenty of experience means it could be a wise deal for the Londoners to get done.

Aleksandar Mitrovic, a fellow countryman of Kostic, has shed some light on the type of player West Ham could be signing. In a previous interview, Mitrovic was asked about Angel Di Maria, but he made it clear which Juventus winger he favours.

“Di Maria is a great champion, but Kostic is my favourite winger at Juventus,” said the winger in an interview with la Gazzetta dello Sport via ilBianconero.

“Filip is one of the best wingers I’ve played with. If you put him in a position that exploits his potential, he repays you with crosses and assists. I’m not just saying it out of friendship, but from experience. I scored several goals thanks to Kostic.”

£150k-a-week ace who Ten Hag loves tells friends he wants to quit Man Utd

A Manchester United star currently at Euro 2024 has now told his friends he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer, according to a new report.

Ten Hag stays at Man Utd

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have already made what will arguably be their biggest decision of the summer, choosing to stick with manager Erik ten Hag.

There was plenty of speculation regarding the Dutchman possibly leaving after two seasons in charge. Ten Hag, who is currently working as a pundit in the Netherlands for Euro 2024, admitted talks over a new deal at Old Trafford, while also revealing that the club told him they’d spoken with Thomas Tuchel.

"Manchester United and I still have to find an agreement for the new contract. This isn't easily done, we are still going to have to talk about this. United have told me that they spoke with Tuchel, but they eventually came to the conclusion that they already have the best manager.

"Ineos took their time. They are new in football, it's normal to reflect the season. It's no secret that they talked with multiple candidates.”

Attention will now be on the transfer market ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, where Ten Hag could lose a number of experienced players.

As we know, Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will leave when their contracts officially expire at the end of the month, whereas Casemiro has also been linked with an exit, already saying his Red Devils goodbyes. Now, another experienced star appears ready to depart.

Christian Eriksen ready to leave Man Utd

According to a new report from Football Insider, Man Utd midfielder Christian Eriksen has told friends he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

The Denmark international, who scored in his country’s opener at Euro 2024, is ready to exit over the coming months and has interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. It is added that Man Utd are unlikely to demand a huge fee for Eriksen, on £150,000-a-week, to leave.

The 32-year-old joined United in 2022 as a free agent and has gone on to make 72 appearances for the club, scoring three times, registering 13 assists and winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

After securing Eriksen’s services, Ten Hag hailed the player, saying: "He is an experienced player. He has played in countries abroad, in Italy, in Holland, a long time in England, so he knows the Premier League. It's an absolute advantage that we have him in.

"I think he is a magnificent football player and I think the fans will enjoy watching him, because he is creative, he has ideas. I think especially our strikers will also be happy because he is the one who can involve them in the game."

It looks as if his days in Manchester could now be numbered, though, making this a situation to watch over the coming months.

Marnus Labuschagne hits another hundred but New South Wales strike back

Mitchell Starc claimed two wickets in his first bowl of the summer but Labuschagne dominated Nathan Lyon

ESPNcricinfo staff30-Oct-2020Marnus Labuschagne made it two centuries in his first two innings of the season on a compelling day against New South Wales, highlighted by his duels with Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon.A fifth-wicket stand of 136 between Labuschagne and Jimmy Peirson lifted Queensland from 4 for 115 although New South Wales struck late with the second new ball, including the wicket of Labuschagne in the final over of the day to Trent Copeland, to even up the contest. In his first outing of the season Starc claimed two wickets, but Lyon went wicketless through 15 overs and was dominated by Labuschagne. In the 41 deliveries Lyon bowled to him, Labuschagne scored 44 runs which included consecutive reverse sweeps to reach his century from 151 balls. His contest with Starc had been equally good viewing as the left-arm quick tried to ruffle his Australia team-mate. He struck Labuschagne on the shoulder with the final delivery of the morning session – with Labuschagne’s response to just turn and walk off for lunch – and then in the afternoon gave him a warning for backing up.

“If I have to keep my foot behind the line, the batters can keep their bat behind the line,” Starc said. “I’ve never taken the stumps and appealed for it, but if they are going to keep doing it I may have to change my approach.”Labuschagne was within two deliveries of being able to resume his innings on the second morning but missed a straight delivery from Copeland as Queensland lost 3 for 22 to the new ball in the final eight overs on a day of high-quality cricket. The Queensland openers had laid a solid platform after being put into bat until Bryce Street edged to third slip in the 18th over. Test opener Joe Burns got himself set before a loose dismissal, top edging a half-hearted pull.Sean Abbott followed that by producing a beauty to trim Usman Khawaja’s off stump, then Starc got his season up and running by finding Matt Renshaw’s edge. But Labuschagne had got himself set and found an impressive partner in Peirson for a stand that occupied 37 overs. Peirson’s innings was given a kickstart as he took 14 off an over against Starc – the same one in which Labuschagne had his warning – although he did not know much about the top-edged short ball which flew over the keeper for six.His half-century came from 87 deliveries and when he and Labuschagne were present for the second new ball, they looked like they would see out the day. However, Peirson gloved Starc down the leg side with the bowler convinced he had a repeat dismissal against Jack Wildermuth, and replays suggested the batsman was lucky to survive, but he was soon pinned lbw by Copeland.

Approach made: Leeds move to sign £10,000-a-week Championship star for free

Leeds United have made an approach to sign a Championship star in a free transfer, according to a new report.

Leeds’ transfer plans

The Whites and manager Daniel Farke are preparing for another season in the second tier after suffering a playoff final defeat to Southampton last month.

That loss looks set to have consequences, with the 49ers Enterprises needing to balance the books to comply with P&S. Chairman Paraag Marathe recently confirmed that Leeds will need to sell but also revealed there will be some incomings.

"Unbelievable" player "open" to signing for Leeds from rivals

An approach has been made.

ByCharlie Smith Jun 13, 2024

“We have the funds that we need to do what we need to do. The reality of being in the Championship is that Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) plays a role. We also inherited a challenging situation, so naturally there are going to be some trade-offs. But also, we have a really good team, and it is not just about outs, but ins.

"We're looking at scouting possibilities and players that we can bring in. We will have to make some trade-offs because of P&S but we have the investment commitment to do what we need to do.”

In regards to specific ins and outs, Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto have all been linked with Elland Road exits in the past few weeks, whereas Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist, Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp and recent Wales loanees Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts have been those mooted as possible arrivals.

Now, another name has emerged on the radar of the Yorkshire club, with Leeds appearing to make their first move.

Leeds make Callum O’Hare approach

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds have expressed their interest in signing Callum O’Hare from Coventry City on a free transfer. Contact appears to have been made, with the Whites battling Burnley and Southampton in the race for the attacking midfielder. O’Hare has rejected new deals with the Sky Blues and will depart for nothing at the end of the month and Leeds are ready to do battle for his signature.

Callum O'Hare

The 26-year-old, who currently picks up £10,000-a-week, began his career on the books of Aston Villa before sealing a permanent move to Coventry in 2020. Since then, O’Hare has gone on to make 182 appearances for the Championship club, scoring 22 goals and registering 30 assists.

He did suffer from injury last season but still managed an impressive individual campaign as Coventry finished in the top half and made the FA Cup semi-final.

O’Hare has also come in for praise from manager Mark Robins, who said late last year: “I think he has been incredible because I mean looking back at Boxing Day last year and to see him was heart-breaking after the injury and then to see him come to terms with the injury and then go through that.

“The journey that he's been on this this year has been really tough and lonely and we've given him space. We've given him time he's worked really hard in between those times but he's deserved a little bit of time off. He's been away on holiday a couple of times where he's just recharged and got ready again to go for his next phase of training. The way he is around the place is really infectious and effervescent and he really deserves that.”
