A semana continua movimentada no Grêmio. Depois de se classificar para as quartas de final da Libertadores, ao eliminar o Godoy Cruz (ARG) na última quarta-feira, e demitir o coordenador técnico Valdir Espinosa, na quinta, outra novidade agitou o tricolor nesta sexta-feira. Foi a volta do camisa 10. O meia Douglas voltou a treinar com bola pela primeira vez desde que se lesionou em fevereiro, ainda durante o Campeonato Gaúcho. O jogador foi inscrito pelo Grêmio na fase de mata-mata da Libertadores na semana passada.

O trabalho realizado no CT Luiz Carvalho foi na parte tática, entre os reservas da equie. Renato Portaluppi já confirmou que deve mandar à campo um time alternativo para enfrentar o Botafogo, no próximo domingo, pelo Campeonato Brasileiro. A partida acontece às 19h, no Estádio Nilton Santos, no Rio de Janeiro.

A number of Aston Villa fans hailed the performance of midfielder John McGinn on Saturday despite their calamitous late collapse in the Midlands derby against Wolves.

Dean Smith’s side found themselves two goals to the good with little over 10 minutes left to play at Villa Park, the Scot’s deflected shot on 68 minutes putting them 2-0 up and seemingly out of sight. However, the visitors staged a dramatic late comeback, turning the game on its head and coming away with a 3-2 victory after Ruben Neves, off whom the ball deflected for McGinn’s goal, saw his free kick take a deflection on its way into the net, leaving the home side stunned. Despite the extraordinary surrendering of what had seemed a comfortable lead for Villa, their Scottish midfielder can come away from the match feeling pleased with his own personal contribution.

Aside from the goal he netted – his second in a week after bagging for Scotland against Israel on international duty – he also claimed an assist for Danny Ings’ opener yesterday and gave an all-round strong performance. As per SofaScore, he had three successful dribbles, won four tackles and came out on top in eight of his 13 duels.

His display won the praise of Birmingham Live’s Ashley Preece, who wrote that the midfielder (who turns 27 tomorrow) “did everything that was asked and more”. It also made an impression on numerous Villa fans on Twitter, one of whom called McGinn an “elite level” player.

يرى جاري نيفيل أسطورة مانشستر يونايتد، أن تعاقد تشيلسي إذا تم مع الهولندي فرينكي دي يونج، سيكون بمثابة إحراجًا كبيرًا للشياطين الحمر.

وأضاف: “لم يرغب دي يونج في التوصل لاتفاق، رغم علاقته القوية بـ إريك تين هاج، وهذا ما جعلني أنتظره يقول (انتظرني أنا قادم) لكن لم يحدث ذلك”.

وأشار: “هناك 3 نتائج، أولًا يأتي إلى مانشستر يونايتد، أو يبقى في برشلونة، والثالث أن يذهب إلى نادي منافس في الدوري الإنجليزي لمدربه الذي عمل تحت قيادته في سنوات ماضية، سيكون أمرًا محرجًا للغاية”.

وأوضح التقرير أن تشيلسي مستعد لدفع 80 مليون يورو لحسم الصفقة، وهو الرقم الذي حدده برشلونة لبيع اللاعب.

وكان مانشستر يونايتد قريبا من ضم اللاعب خلال الفترة الماضية، بعدما توصل لاتفاق مع برشلونة، لكن دي يونج هو من رفض إتمام الصفقة، لرغبته في اللعب بدوري أبطال أوروبا، وهو ما لا يتوفر في مانشستر يونايتد هذا الموسم.

Shaun Tait is aiming to play in the closing rounds of the IPL, despite Cricket Australia this month ruling him out of the tournament on medical grounds. Tait returned to the nets this week after three months on the sidelines with chronic hamstring tendonitis, and is hopeful of being cleared for the final stages of the Rajasthan Royals’ campaign in South Africa.Tait was the only senior Australian player to be selected in the 2009 IPL auction when purchased by Rajasthan for $375,000. The South Australian paceman was disappointed on learning of CA medical staff’s intention to stand him down from the lucrative Twenty20 league, but believes he has now made sufficient progress in his recovery from injury to be reconsidered.”If I can get myself fit, and there is a window for the final two or three games, that would be fantastic,” Tait told Cricinfo. “Because of the injury, Cricket Australia weren’t keen to release me to play [in the IPL], which ruled me out of training and playing with Rajasthan. That was pretty frustrating, because it was something I wanted to be a part of. But now that I am back in the nets and feeling good, hopefully there’s a chance there.”When fit, Tait has been an integral member of Australia’s 50- and 20-over squads in recent seasons, and the right-armer rates himself a “50-50″ chance of being named in the final 15-man line-up for the World Twenty20 in June. The IPL, he feels, represents an ideal opportunity to gain much needed match-practice ahead of the tournament, in which Australia were defeated by India in the semi-finals in 2007.”Obviously a lot of it depends on how I am going physically, but I feel good right at the moment,” he said. “I will keep bowling in the nets, but it would definitely be good to get a few games under my belt. I’m not sure if I’m in the selectors’ minds for the Twenty20 World Cup, but if so, then a few IPL games mightn’t be a bad thing. And if there was the opportunity for a county stint before the one-dayers in England, then that would be great, too.”Tait has contended with a number of elbow, back and hamstring injuries in recent seasons, but remains willing to live with the physical consequences of his violent bowling action for the sake of pace. The 26-year-old said he was loath to tinker with the bowling action that propelled him from the suburban grounds of Adelaide to Kensington Oval, the scene of the 2007 World Cup final, and would consider standing down from the longer forms of the game to extend his career.”At the end of the day, my action has got me this far,” he said. “I am prepared to cop these injuries to keep bowling fast. Last year I probably targetted the shorter forms more. I think one-dayers and Twenty20s suit my style of game more. In the next three or four months, I’ll see how I go. If I’m still feeling good playing four-day cricket then I’d be stupid to walk away, but if not then I’ll have to have a think about it.”I haven’t bowled a ball in three months, so it’s good to be pain-free again. I’ve learned a few ways that might help me manage my injuries better and keep myself strong. I’m sure I’ll get injured again; that’s just the way it is. Maybe that will mean missing a few games here and there, but hopefully I’ll be able to manage things better.”

David Moyes’ men have won both their Group H matches by a two-goal margin, keeping a clean sheet in both, and they head into kickoff on the back of an impressively resolute victory over Everton last Sunday.

But with Tottenham Hotspur in town this weekend, the Scotsman could be pondering some changes to his starting XI, but what sort of lineup could we see in east London tonight?

There could be as many as six changes from the side that won at Goodison Park five days ago.

The first of which is likely to come between the sticks as 6 foot 5 giant Alphonse Areola, on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, returns to hand veteran goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski a rest.

Hammers full-back duo Aaron Cresswell and Ben Johnson remain from Sunday but Moyes opts for a different central defensive partnership, with £13.5m-rated “monster” Issa Diop and the vastly-experienced Craig Dawson coming in as they did against Rapid Wien.

They replace Angelo Ogbonna and summer signing Kurt Zouma, whilst Vladimir Coufal is expected to be out through injury.

Another new addition does make the starting XI, however.

Moyes has already confirmed that Nikola Vlasic will be involved, so he could feature on the wing, with Manuel Lanzini and Said Benrahma joining him in attacking midfield.

They’ll be the trio sat in front of industrious England international Declan Rice and club captain Mark Noble, who comes into the side to replace Tomas Soucek, who is rested.

The Czech star is available for selection but he could do with some time off the pitch, as could Michail Antonio, who may settle for a place on the bench with Jarrod Bowen leading the line in his absence.

A big call but one that could be necessary, considering Spurs at the weekend and then a trip to defending champions Manchester City.

Shillington contributed 21 off 20 balls before she was lbw to Sana Mir. There was no further success for Pakistan, though, as Isobel reached his fifty off 29 balls and achieved the target in the company of Emma Beamish.Pakistan’s innings had been curtailed to 15 overs because of rain earlier in the day. They managed only 80 for 3 with Sajjida Shah top-scoring with 27. The Whelan sisters, Heather and Jill, were Ireland’s only wicket-takers, taking 1 for 5 and 1 for 16 respectively.
