Everton contract talk with Dobbin & Simms

Some Everton fans have been left buzzing as some news emerged on Lewis Dobbin and Ellis Simms.

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Patrick Boyland has now revealed that the Goodison Park faithful are currently in talks with both players to give them new deals.

Dobbin’s contract expires at the end of the season, while progress has been made with Simms’ deal.

Both players are certainly two of the most promising youngsters at the Merseyside club at the moment, as Dobbin has already Transfermarkt).

Nonetheless, they are the future of the club, and so tying them both down to new contracts would be great business, especially considering what unfolded with Thierry Small this summer.

These Toffees buzzed as the news was shared across Twitter, with one Blues supporter claiming that it is ‘good news’ while another praise the ‘massive potential’ on show:

“Love it if these 2 and DCL could spearhead our attack for 5/6 years. But fans won’t have the patience. Crave immediate success. Hopefully they’ll be more Rooney than Jeffers or Cadamarteri.”

Preview: Aston Villa XI vs Spurs

With Dean Smith’s Aston Villa side heading into Sunday’s Premier League clash on the back of a highly impressive 1-0 win last time out, the 50-year-old manager will undoubtedly be hoping for yet another promising performance when Villa visit Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

And, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s Spurs side currently on a run of three straight defeats in the league, the fixture could well provide Aston Villa with a fantastic opportunity to continue their climb up the top-flight table after a shaky start to their 2021/22 campaign.

So, will Smith make any changes to the team which started in the win over Manchester United last weekend? Here’s how we think Villa could line up against Tottenham, along with the latest team and injury news…

While it is indeed true that Villa highly impressed in their 3-5-2 formation at Old Trafford last weekend, with Tottenham very much looking there to be got at on Sunday afternoon, we predict that Smith will make one change to his starting XI, as well as switching back to a 4-3-3 formation.

In the centre of defence, last week’s match-winner, 26-year-old Kortney Hause, is extremely unfortunate to drop to the bench, with Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa’s consistently impressive form so far this season enough for the duo to keep their starting spots, while Matt Targett and Matty Cash drop back into less advanced full-back roles.

The central midfield trio of Douglas Luiz, Jacob Ramsey and John McGinn is untouched, while, with Leon Bailey yet to resume training following his quad injury, Ollie Watkins move onto the left-hand side of the front three, with Danny Ings starting up top and the £75k-per-week Emiliano Buendia regaining a place in the XI on the right flank.

Meanwhile, although once again an option for Smith after being unavailable against his parent club last week, Axel Tuanzebe has to make do with a seat amongst the substitutes.

Start time 9.30am (13.30GMT)Big pictureAnother format and another chance for England to register their first international win of the winter? Don’t hold your breath. Barring their series win against South Africa last summer they haven’t been much good at one-day cricket for a long time and are facing a West Indies side full of energy and confidence. England don’t have a settled opening pair or a settled bowling attack and are forever experimenting to try and find a combination that works. It all fell flat in the Twenty20 as they were comprehensively thumped and the guessing game is set to continue.West Indies have far fewer issues to worry about and are hoping to be boosted by the return of Chris Gayle after his hamstring injury. During their struggles in recent years the 50-over variety has provided the occasional moment of success as their deficiencies weren’t exposed in the shorter format. Their top order can match any for destructive qualities, while Dwayne Bravo’s availability boosts all departments. The collection of useful spinners and medium pacers are ideally suited to the slow surfaces that are now common and the fielding continues to show marked improvement. It hasn’t been said very often of late, but West Indies start as clear favourites.Form guide (most recent first)West Indies LNLWN
England LLLLLWatch out for …Fidel Edwards has been fast, hostile and fairly unlucky all tour. He could have had a bag of wickets in the Test series but dropped catches cost him and this one-day series provides the chance to earn some reward. He doesn’t really bowl much differently in the shorter format, and is never afraid to mix up bouncers with yorkers, and although his extra pace can make scoring easy he offers an important strike option for Gayle.England don’t have anyone with the pace to match, but Stuart Broad has developed impressively during the tour. He enjoyed more success with the white ball in the early days of his international career, which bodes well for the matches ahead as he will share the new-ball duties with James Anderson. He is showing more variety, too, developing slower-balls and cutters to suit the different surfaces, and is quickly becoming Andrew Strauss’s go-to man.Team newsStrauss has declared himself fit after a minor hamstring problem but Andrew Flintoff hasn’t yet recovered from his hip injury and continues to miss out. England won’t reveal their side until the toss, but it seems likely that Steven Davies will get another chance to open alongside Ravi Bopara. West Indies will give Gayle a last-minute fitness test although he is hopeful of being ready, while it is a surprise that Sulieman Benn has been dropped after his superb spell in the Twenty20. Offspinner Nikita Miller has been recalled to the squad after a strong domestic seasonWest Indies (possible) 1 Chris Gayle (capt), 2 Devon Smith, 3 Ramnaresh Sarwan, 4 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 5 Kieron Pollard, 6 Lendl Simmons, 7 Dwayne Bravo, 8 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 9 Darren Sammy, 10 Jerome Taylor, 11 Fidel EdwardsEngland (possible) 1 Ravi Bopara, 2 Steven Davies (wk), 3 Kevin Pietersen, 4 Owais Shah, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Andrew Strauss (capt), 7 Dimitri Mascarenhas, 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Gareth Batty, 10 Amjad Khan, 11 James AndersonPitch and conditionsThe Providence Stadium in Guyana has replicated the slow, low pitches of the old Bourda ground so the quick bowlers shouldn’t expect too much encouragement. It will be a match for the medium pacers and spinners, which could also make scoring hard work. As ever on the South American mainland the weather will play a part with a chance of rain pretty much at any time.Stats & TriviaThis ground hosted six ODIs during the 2007 World Cup but none sinceWest Indies have played one ODI at Providence, against Sri Lanka, when they were beaten by 113 runsQuotes”I had a little bit of a hamstring niggle but I’ve been working hard with the medical staff and I feel absolutely 100% fine.”
“I’m really looking forward to the five matches, it’s going to be competitive and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Eu me sinto muito à vontade, tranquilo. A expectativa melhor possível – afirmou o novo treinador.

Jones and Kitchen sink Central Districts

Centuries to Richard Jones and Anaru Kitchen put Auckland in a commanding position in the State Championship final in Lincoln

Scorecard
Anaru Kitchen stroked a fluent 115 as Auckland assumed total command at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval. He was given good support by captain Richard Jones, who scored 109, as they ended with a sizeable lead.Central Districts resumed the day on 169 for 8, but Daryl Tuffey ended any hopes of a late charge, removing Jacob Oram and Mitchell McClenaghan in quick succession.During the reply, Central Districts needed a similar bowling performance similar to Lance Shaw’s for Auckland, but their hopes took a knock when fast bowler Michael Mason was forced out of the attack due to injury. Mason though, did manage 3.4 overs, accounting for the in-form Jeet Raval for 4. McClenaghan then dismissed Rob Nicol for 12 as Auckland slipped to 39 for 2, before Kitchen and Jones seized control to put Auckland on course to secure their first first-class trophy since 2004-05.Kitchen, 25, has made a favourable impression in his maiden first-class season and he continued the good form, sharing a third-wicket stand of 184 with Jones. Kitchen hit 15 boundaries and three sixes during his 180-ball stay, scoring at a rate considerably quickly than Jones, who faced 220 balls for his 15th first-class century. While Kitchen fell to Brendon Diamanti, Jones was dismissed midway through the final session when he bottom-edged an attempted pull off Ewen Thompson to give wicketkeeper Bevan Griggs his third catch. It was finally left to wicketkeeper Gareth Hopkins and Colin de Grandhomme to safely guide Auckland to stumps.

LFC fans react to Wijnaldum comments

Liverpool fans have been reacting to comments from Georginio Wijnaldum, who said he is not completely happy with his new club Paris Saint-Germain.

Wijnaldum had a successful career with the Reds during five years with the Merseyside outfit. He played 237 matches for them after making the switch from Newcastle, finding the back of the net 22 times (Transfermarkt). He was an influential member of Jurgen Klopp’s side as they won both the Champions League and Premier League.

However, the Netherlands ace decided to leave the club earlier this summer following the end of his contract. He has started just five of PSG’s nine Ligue 1 fixtures, and has now said he is not completely happy with the amount of playing time he has received (via Sky Sports).

A direção do Internacional decidiu reintegrar o meia Alex Santana ao time principal.
