استقبل محمود الخطيب، رئيس النادي الأهلي، والذي يترأس بعثة فريق الكرة في مونديال الأندية، ‏مساء اليوم الخميس، وفد بالميراس البرازيلي.

وجاء ذلك على هامش مباراة الفريقين التي ستنطلق بعد دقائق في لقاء تحديد المركزين الثالث والرابع في كأس العالم ‏للأندية.

وحضر الاستقبال المهندس خالد مرتجي، عضو مجلس إدارة النادي، المنسق العام ‏للبعثة.‏

وأهدى وفد بالميراس، الخطيب، قميص الفريق، في الوقت الذي ‏حرص فيه رئيس الأهلي على إهداء الوفد الذي ترأسه ألكسندر زانوتا نائب رئيس النادي البرازيلي، ‏قميص المارد الأحمر.‏

كشفت تقارير صحفية إسبانية، أن نادي ريال مدريد ينوي متابعة نجم فريق باريس سان جيرمان كيليان مبابي عن كثب، خلال مباراة الغد المرتقبة أمام برشلونة.

ويلتقي الفريقان في الكامب نو، في إطار منافسات ذهاب دور الـ16 من دوري أبطال أوروبا.

وسبق أن ارتبط مبابي مرارًا وتكرارًا بخطوة الرحيل إلى ريال مدريد، خاصة أنه أحد مشجعي النادي الملكي منذ طفولته.

وتحدثت “ماركا” عن ما سيفعله مبابي في مباراة الغد أمام برشلونة، وهي الأولى له ضد البلوجرانا، لذا سيكون الفرنسي متحمسًا للغاية.

وأوضحت إنه إذا أراد مبابي أن يكون أحد أفضل اللاعبين في العالم ووريث ليونيل ميسي، فعليه إثبات ذلك في مباريات مثل هذه، وهو ما تدركه إدارة ريال مدريد.

وأفادت أن مسؤولي ريال مدريد في سانتياجو برنابيو سيتابعون عن كثب ما سيفعله مبابي في مباراة الغد أمام البارسا.

وأشارت إلى أن مشجعين اللوس بلانكوس سيتابعون أيضًا مباراة الغد بين برشلونة وسان جيرمان، حيث يرغبون في معرفة ما يستطيع كيليان تحقيقه في تلك المواجهة الصعبة.

وأكدت أن ريال مدريد لن يتردد في الاختيار بين هالاند أو مبابي، إذا تألق الأخير ضد ميسي ورفاقه، حيث أن الأفضلية ستكون للفرنسي.

Despite clinching three signings who will improve the side no end, Manchester United are left to wonder simply what could have been. All summer, talk was raging about the superstars and high-profile players who would be plying their trade at Old Trafford, but instead, the club opted against such an approach.

Daniel James’ arrival in a £15m deal from Swansea should be considered as astute business from the Red Devils. Whilst the Welshman may have only shone in the Championship, his raw qualities of pace and directness will help to give the side some much-needed explosiveness from out wide. The best United teams of recent years have all been blistering on the break, and James certainly fits that profile.

Completing a protracted deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace gives the Red Devils a right-back who could quite conceivably turn out for the club for the next decade. The England U21 international is that rare breed of full-back who defends better than he attacks, and is more than a worthy replacement for Antonio Valencia.

Alongside him in defence, Harry Maguire’s world-record move was long and drawn-out, and showed the weaknesses of United’s negotiating skills.

Leicester refused to budge from their valuation of the centre-back, and yet United appeared intent on driving a hard bargain, but in the end paid exactly what the Foxes wanted in the first-place. The price tag will inevitably raise the expectation on the level of performance the 26-year-old produces, but he has shown in his time with both Hull and Leicester that he has the presence to cope with it.

Having failed to bring in anyone else despite continued links to the likes of Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, much of United’s summer revolved around the futures of Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba. Lukaku’s departure to Inter brought Solskjaer’s side big-money, but a lack of replacement for the Belgian means the side are desperately short of proven goalscorers.

Indeed, with the window in other major European leagues not yet closed, Pogba could still be on his way out of Old Trafford. What has been a rather disappointing summer on the whole, would be compounded into absolute misery were the France World Cup winner to make his departure.

So whilst United’s only three signings are promising, the questions of ‘what if’ surrounding who they could have signed, and who could still yet leave, makes this another window the United hierarchy have gotten wrong.

Loads of Manchester United fans have been discussing a behind-closed-doors game that took place this week, and they’re desperate to see Angel Gomes in the first-team.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fielded a mixture of fringe players and youth in a friendly against Sheffield United on Tuesday, per Utdreport.

The likes of Sergio Romero, Chris Smalling, Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones and Alexis Sanchez all started, as they beat the Blades 3-1.

The forward line has really caught the eye though, with both Mason Greenwood and Gomes amongst the attacking ranks.

The goals came from Andreas Pereira, Greenwood and the 18 year-old Gomes, who fans now want in the senior side, with one even calling him “world class”.

The number ten position is a bit of a headache for Solskjaer with Jesse Lingard starting the campaign woefully, and Gomes has managed 25 goals and 15 assists for the various youth sides at the club.

He has appeared four times in the first-team, and was on the bench for last season’s crazy comeback at PSG.

Brendan Rodgers’ slight tweak to Leicester City’s formation paid off on Saturday afternoon as the Foxes won 2-1 at Bramall Lane to go fourth in the Premier League table.

Their opening goal was a thing of beauty – not because it was an outrageous screamer from long-range or an incredible scorpion-kick but because of the mix of work-rate and class.

Ayoze Perez robbed the ball from beneath Chris Basham before handing the ball to James Maddison who played a skilful outside of the foot through ball into space for Jamie Vardy to latch onto as he powerfully guided a left-footed strike home.

Chris Wilder made some changes just before an hour on the clock and it only took Oliver McBurnie eight minutes to make his mark, heading home the equaliser.

That was before Rodgers’ own throw of the dice meant that maximum points returned to the King Power Stadium as Harvey Barnes lashed in a crisp half-volley from the edge of the box.

The key takeaway from the match was the Northern Irish man electing for two strikers in attack with Perez pairing Vardy which allowed Maddison to occupy that number ten role in front of a base of three.

It may be a formation or idea of playing two up top that Rodgers should continue to operate with.

Letting go of Islam Slimani despite only having two other ‘strikers’ at the club looked to be a strange move but if anything, this victory has proved that he wasn’t needed.

Perez can play central, as he did so for Newcastle United.

In fact, it has to be considered his best position. He has failed to live up to his £30m price tag so far this season but that is because he’s been wasted out on the right-flank – he’s had no goals or assists yet this season.

Against Wolves and Chelsea, the 26-year-old could only muster a best rating of 6.58.

In this game against the Blades, the Spaniard was able to record a rating of 6.99, his best of the season so far so that is an encouraging sign going forward.

Not only that, when you analyse where his goals were scored from during his time at Newcastle, you’ll soon learn that just 6% of his 33 strikes in England have been from outside of the box – including one against the Foxes, actually, as per Understat.

Perez isn’t going to get into the positions he was in above by playing out on the right-wing, therefore his influence in this Leicester team is only going to be held back until he’s played centrally.

Against the Blades, he showed that was his better position as he recorded his best rating of the season yet.

The bigger the circle in the image above, the bigger the expected goal and as you can see a bunch of them are right by the goalmouth, showing just how clinical he can be when more central and closer to the opposition net.

Rodgers must use his blueprint from Newcastle to breed the best from Perez in the Midlands.
