Rangers fans want to sign Danny Welbeck

[ad_pod ]Loads of Rangers fans are weighing in on the latest rumour to do the rounds on Twitter, with Danny Welbeck being touted as a possible summer signing.Rangers are expected to undergo another small squad overhaul this summer, and while there will likely be nowhere close to the 15 signings Steven Gerrard made last summer, the Gers need to continue to trim and reshape the squad. And fans are looking at Welbeck as a possible arrival, with the Arsenal striker set to become a free agent at the end of this season.Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…The 28 year-old will be without a club by the start of July, and plenty of Gers fans are eyeing a swoop to bring him to Ibrox for free.Of course, free signings have more negotiating power when agreeing wages, meaning the player’s personal demands could put a stop to any possible move.

That hasn’t stopped fans fantasising about signing the versatile attacker though, who can play as a number nine or down the wing, with some even suggesting a pay-as-you-play deal, such is the extent of his injury record.

Take a look at the Twitter reactions down below, where plenty of fans are backing a move for the £13.5m-rated ace…

West Ham: Josh Cullen could be the next academy star

The rise of Declan Rice for West Ham has been one of the stories of the Premier League this season and an inspiration for many aspiring players looking to break into the English top-flight.

Rice’s emergence as a kid from the academy to one of the top midfield prospects in Europe has been something West Ham fans have enjoyed greatly this season, and supporters have already be theorising who could be the next youngster to make an impact on the Irons’ XI, and there’s one standout name amongst the players to pick from.

Josh Cullen is a name that has been well known in the Hammers community for some time now, and next season might be the time the midfielder finally makes a name for himself in the first-team after an impressive season on-loan at Charlton Athletic.

Similar to Mark Noble in both position and playing style, the Irish international has been one of the standout players in League One this season, operating in the defensive midfield position for Charlton as the Addicks look to gain promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

With West Ham likely to offload players this summer and Noble heading into the twilight years of his career at 32 this week, Manuel Pellegrini will be smart to have Cullen involved in the first-team next season on the basis of not only his impressive season in League One, but also on the fact the midfielder will be a cost-free addition to the team.

West Ham need improving on in the summer transfer window, and Cullen would prove to be a welcome addition to the team without costing the Hammers any money and playing in a position to one day take over the captain’s role in the side.

West Ham fans, would Cullen be a good addition to the first-team next season? Let us know!

Joselu a good place to start for Newcastle’s summer overhaul

Time to say goodbye: Joselu to be shown the door at Newcastle United

The Magpies are prepared to let flop striker Joselu fly this summer, as per Footballer Insider reports.

It genuinely defies belief that the big man has been considered a key member of the squad during the previous two seasons, but he has – and only recently has the club apparently made the decision that he is surplus to requirements.

A source close to Newcastle has apparently revealed to Football Insider that Rafael Benitez is keen on offloading the player this summer and has urged the club to consider any incoming offers.

Once a man of Celta Vigo, Frankfurt and Hoffenheim Joselu was Newcastle’s first choice centre-forward last season, which explains a lot, after signing from Stoke City in the summer of 2017, which also explains a lot.

Having scored a pitiful four goals in 32 appearances last season and began this campaign in equally fruitless fashion as the starting striker until king Solomon Rondon established himself as a number one, it is obvious why Benitez has absolutely no intention of keeping him on next season.

As Newcastle have looked to defend their Premier League status, Joselu has not started a single league game since the Boxing Day massacre by Liverpool and has failed to even make the matchday squad for the past seven fixtures.

The writing is most certainly on the wall for Joselu, and we can hardly blame Benitez and Newcastle. Genuine quality is needed if they want to improve on simply scraping by, and the Spaniard is evidently so far behind the required standard.

Newcastle fans, do you think Joselu’s time is up at Newcastle or does he deserve a chance? Join the discussion by commenting below…

Shocker: Maicon to Manchester City

Maicon Douglas Sisenando. Cor blimey, what a player he was back in the day. Shame he joined the long list of stars introduced to the Premier League much far too late in their remarkable careers.

In the past, we have seen the fearless Brazilian parade up and down the right-hand side of the pitch like the Tower Guard on fast-forward. Just imagine the perfect modern defender; a clinical finisher, crosser and powerhouse defender. He genuinely had it all. Maicon was just an absolute nightmare in every sense of the word.

I mean, look at the state of that.

We don’t care if he meant it or not – though we’re veering more towards he did, this rocket scored from a nigh on impossible angle against North Korea (not known for their footballing ability, we get it) encapsulated just about everything that made him such a strong asset.

Unfortunately, however, what could have been an inspired buy – a Champions League winner for the measly price of £3million – turned out to be quite the anti-climax.

At the tender old age of 31, City caught the marauding full-back in the latter years of his career when things were beginning to slow, squeak, rattle, crunch, crack and bang. He struggled with injuries and failed to annex the starting spot from Argentinian mainstay Pablo Zabaleta – another man who was reaching the twilight years of his career.

Even when Zabaleta wasn’t available for selection, the role was often taken by City’s vice-captain Micah Richards – remember him? In a single disappointing season at the Etihad, Maicon managed just for Premier League starts before seeking refuge back in Italy with Roma.

Manchester City fans, would you agree that Maicon was a bad signing? How many other players can you recall buying past their best? Let us know in the comments below!

Sheffield Wednesday: Bruce must consider summer swoop for Macauley Bonne

Having led Sheffield Wednesday to a 12th place finish in the Championship earlier this month, Steve Bruce will be looking to end the club’s wait for Premier League football next season by launching a sustained bid for promotion.

Yet in order to give his side the best chance of being successful next season, the 58-year-old will need to get his recruitment spot on over the next few months.

Although Bruce will need to bring in several additions during the transfer window, it is paramount that he prioritises signing a forward between now and August.

Despite having the likes of Fernando Forestieri, Lucas Joao and Steven Fletcher at his disposal, it could be highly beneficial for the former Aston Villa boss if he swoops for one of the National League’s most exciting talents.

According to TalkSPORT (as quoted by HITC), the Owls are reportedly one of a number of clubs thought to be interested in Leyton Orient ace Macauley Bonne who could be available for as little as £200k this summer.

A fantastic finisher, the Zimbabwean international fired in an impressive total of 23 goals for the O’s during the 2018/19 campaign as the O’s secured promotion to League Two.

Indeed, bringing in Bonne could be considered as somewhat of a risk since he has never played in the Championship before, but it may be worth taking if he can make the necessary adjustments needed to thrive at that level.

Still only 23 years old, the former Colchester United ace seemingly has the world at his feet and could develop into a top player under the guidance of Bruce.

However, if the Owls are considering a move for Bonne, they must act quick as Sheffield United, Sunderland and Leicester City are all keeping tabs on the forward’s situation at Orient.

What do you think Wednesday fans? Should Bruce make a move for Bonne this summer? Or is there another striker that you would like your club to sign in the transfer window? Let us know below.

Transfer Focus: Time for Leeds to welcome back Saiz

[ad_pod ]

Samu Saiz may yet be a Leeds player next season after reports have emerged that Getafe won’t attempt to extend his initial loan spell.

La Vanguardia say that the Spaniard will have to return to Elland Road this summer, but his future from that point is still undecided.

The La Liga club had an option to buy Saiz in the upcoming transfer window, but it seems as if that will not be taken up.

La Liga nightmare

The midfielder hasn’t had the best of times since returning to his home country. He has made just two starts at Getafe and has played only 300 cumulative minutes for the club.

There should be no surprise that Jose Bordelais has chosen to send him back to England. The Leeds loanee scored just once during his time at Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez and failed to make an assist.

For a player who looked so talented in the Championship to flop in La Liga is surprising. Attitude and homesickness was the reported reason for Saiz leaving Elland Road in January, but returning to Spain didn’t seem to help his confidence on the pitch one bit.

Open to a return

This isn’t the worst thing in the world for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. If the midfielder has gotten over his homesickness problem after spending six months back in his homeland, then he may yet become a key player for the Yorkshire club.

There’s no doubting the ability that he possesses, and for that reason, Leeds should be reluctant to let him go.

The Whites fell just short of promotion this season, and squad depth looked to be the issue towards the back end of the campaign. The return of Saiz sees Leeds not only add another option in their midfield, but it sees them gain one of the most talented players in the Championship.

It was thought that the 28-year-old had played his last ever game at Elland Road when he departed in the winter, but now it may be time for Bielsa to welcome him back with open arms.
