وكان الفرنسي باتريس كارتيرون قرر الرحيل عن الزمالك بشكل مفاجئ، لقيادة فريق التعاون السعودي.

ويستعد الزمالك لمواجهة أسوان، مساء اليوم الجمعة، في إطار منافسات الجولة الـ28 من عمر بطولة الدوري المصري الممتاز.

Mesut Ozil’s long-term future at Arsenal remains unclear after falling out of favour in north London.

The former Germany international was once considered one of the finest playmakers in all of world football. However, Ozil has failed to replicate his world-class performances in recent years. After struggling during Arsene Wenger’s final seasons in charge, his woes have continued under Unai Emery who has constantly omitted the former Real Madrid man from his squad.

It’s surely likely that the Gunners will look to offload the midfielder during the summer window. Taking home a whopping £350,000-per-week, he simply isn’t justifying his mammoth wages. With cash likely to be limited for Emery, getting rid of Ozil could be a priority.

To replace him, the former Sevilla boss should snap up Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid – Kai Havertz. Valued at £58.5m by Transfermarkt, the German was earmarked as one of the country’s hottest prospects after making his name in the Leverkusen youth academy. Havertz’s transition to the first-team has been seamless with the youngster now enjoying a prominent role in the side.

The 19-year-old drew comparisons to Ozil during his earlier years but his overall game has completely evolved since. Classy on the ball, Havertz is extremely well-rounded meaning he is comfortable in a variety of midfield roles. The Germany international is enjoying his finest season to date, helping his side with an incredible return of 12 goals and six assists in all competitions this season.

Havertz has the potential to develop into one of the world’s best midfielders; the Gunners should be doing everything in their power to lure him to the Emirates.

Birmingham City forward Che Adams continued his incredible season with a brace in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

Adams netted in the 16th and 85th minute respectively to ensure that his team would take a share of the spoils against Blackburn.

The 22-year-old has now registered 21 Championship goals this season, which has led to a host of attention.

Indeed, a number of Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest in the striker, who will not be short of offers at the end of the campaign.

As expected, the Birmingham fans were absolutely delighted with what they saw from the 5ft 9in ace on Saturday afternoon.

Jack Grealish returned from injury with a bang yesterday, hitting a stunning volley and putting in a dominating midfield display, and he could take Aston Villa right into the play-offs.

Villa beat Derby County 4-0 at Villa Park on Saturday in what many have said to be their best performance all season, and it’s no coincidence that it aligned with the end to Grealish’s 13 games out injured. They’d won just two of those games without the 23-year-old and it was clear to see what they were missing.

The Englishman was handed the captain’s armband for the game, and controlled the tempo of the play well, making for a dominant display for his side, whose win completed a double over Frank Lampard’s men. This showing seemed like a Villa side capable of climbing from 11thback into the play-off places despite having a long way to go.

Only six points split them and sixth-placed Bristol City, but there are four other teams between them so it’s hard to see where all those teams will slip up to give Villa a chance. But if they perform like they did on Saturday and keep winning, then other teams drop points, there’s certainly a chance to make a last-ditch attempt at the play-offs.

The fitness of Jack Grealish will be key to this fight but his absence has made the going much tougher, however, more improbable things have happened and yesterday proved they’re capable of beating anyone. With a fully fit Grealish for a season, Villa fans would certainly fancy themselves for promotion, but is it too late for them to go up this season?

Netflix’s Sunderland ‘Til I Die series prompted plenty of discussion from fans, particularly about Jack Rodwell and Darron Gibson, but two current Black Cats have some harsh words for another of the show’s antagonists.

Sunderland’s free fall down into League One was the product of years of mismanagement, poor signings and foolish decisions.

And while the Black Cats are in good spirits under new owner Stewart Donald, currently in a great position in the league with a cup final to look forward to, two players have been reflecting on the Netflix documentary that revealed all on the club’s plight.

Goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter sat next to Lewis Grabban in the dressing room, and he was clearly not impressed by the striker’s attitude.

Speaking to Dutch publication Voetbal International, as reported by The Sunderland Echo, Ruiter said: “He did not really get along with the club.

“Grabban sat next to me in the locker room and said every day he did not feel like it. No idea what exactly bothered him.

“He is now two clubs further [along]. So in the selection you had a few players who brought down the atmosphere.”

Glenn Loovens, who joined after Grabban had already left but watched the TV series himself, has also chastised the 31 year-old.

Speaking about the show, the veteran defender said: “It is a cool series. You see how deep that club is. With the supporters, with a number of players. The boys who were not interested in anything, it did not show them.

“Only that striker, Lewis Grabban. He came across as a jerk.”
