Dashing left-handed opener earns his first professional contract with Melbourne Renegades after dominating for Australia’s Under-19s against England this year

Harry Dixon is 18 years old, has been blazing runs for Australia Under-19s, idolises David Warner, and has just been handed a two-year deal with Melbourne Renegades.Dixon, a left-handed opener, has been highly regarded around the Victoria grade system – he hit his maiden hundred for St Kilda in the final round of last season – and has just come off a memorable few days in England where he made 167 and 83 in the first Youth Test at New Road.In the first innings, he raced to a century before stumps on the first day and his second-innings runs came from 52 balls, adding 156 in 17.2 overs with Sam Konstas, as Australia A chased for 191 in 21.2 overs.”I was on 66, maybe, with about 40 minutes left in the day, then hit a couple of boundaries in one over and told myself I was going to get a hundred before the close of play,” he told ESPNcricinfo. “[In the second innings] we went out there and wanted to have a bit of freedom. We didn’t plan to have it all come off that way, but we got to drinks and were both hitting them pretty well. Good to get the boys a rest day, too, which was nice.”Earlier this year, Dixon made 148 off 125 balls in the one-day series when England Under-19s came to Australia. The name of the batter he most admires is, perhaps, therefore not entirely a surprise.”I’ve always idolised David Warner,” he said. “Seeing him grow up as a T20 player and then be able to play all three formats as well as he has done is hopefully something I want to do in the future. He has been incredible and done a lot for the country, hopefully, I can be pretty similar and get into the Aussie team and play all three formats.”I’d like to think of myself as someone who can potentially in the future play all three formats. Think I showed that in the last couple of series against England which is nice.”Dixon does not yet have a state contract, although he will spend some time training with Victoria in the coming weeks, but there is a strong chance that will come next season. However, he has been snapped up for the BBL.Renegades first showed interest during the Under-19 series in Australia during February, then moved in for a deal after the recent Top End tournament in Darwin where Dixon played for the opposite side of town as part of the Melbourne Stars Academy. He made a couple of starts, including 32 of 14 balls opening against Pakistan A.He is certainly going to have some experience to learn from with Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and Quinton de Kock part of Renegades’ squad.”Can’t wait to share a locker room with guys like Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh and Nathan Lyon,” he said. “Looking forward to getting stuck in and learning as much as I can and becoming the best player I can be. مودريتش انتهت رحلته مع ريال مدريد عقب نهاية مشوار الملكي بكأس العالم للأندية، حيث رحل إلى صفوف إي سي ميلان في صفقة انتقال حر، بعد نهاية عقده مع الميرنجي.

وصنع مودريتش  التاريخ مع ريال مدريد ويعتبر أكثر لاعب تتويجًا بالألقاب في تاريخ الفريق الملكي برصيد 28 لقبًا، قبل أن يغادر العملاق الإسباني من الباب الكبير.

وعلى الرغم من التاريخ الذي صنعه مودريتش مع ريال مدريد بالقميص رقم 10، إلا أن الدولي الكرواتي لم يكن سوى استثناء في تاريخ الفريق الملكي الحديث بهذا الرقم بجانب لويس فيجو، والذي كان بمثابة لعنة لكل من يرتديه في الفريق الأبيض.

وحمل العديد من النجوم الرقم 10 في تاريخ ريال مدريد خلال السنوات الماضية، لكن رحلتهم لم يكتب في نهايتها النجاح وانتهت بالرحيل بعد ارتداء هذا الرقم أو تقديم مستويات مميزة والرحيل من الباب الضيق بعد سنوات قليلة من التواجد مع الفريق الملكي، يسردها “بطولات” في السطور التالية.. كلارينس سيدورف

تعاقد نادي ريال مدريد مع سيدورف خلال عام 1996 قادمًا من صفوف سامبدوريا مقابل 8.6 مليون يورو، حيث كان الدولي الهولندي السابق واحدًا من أكثر لاعبي خط الوسط المتميزين في مركزه خلال تلك الفترة.

ولعب فابيو كابيلو، مدرب ريال مدريد، آنذاك دورًا هامًا في تعاقد الفريق الملكي مع سيدورف من سامبدوريا.

سيدورف حقق لقب دوري أبطال أوروبا مع ريال مدريد في موسمه الثاني مع الملكي، وكان لاعبًا هامًا مع الميرنجي حيث كان أكثر لاعب مشاركًة في أول مواسمه مع الفريق.

لكن قصة سيدورف مع ريال مدريد لم تستمر سوى أربعة مواسم فقط ورحل عن الملكي عام 2000، حيث تم بيعه إلى إنتر ميلان مقابل 24 مليون يورو، في ظل الأزمة المالية التي كانت تعاني منها إدارة اللوس بلانكوس.

وأكد سيدورف في تصريحات سابقة، أنه لم يكن يعلم أن إدارة ريال مدريد تريد بيعه، إذ قال: “لقد علمت أن النادي كان يتفاوض مع أندية أخرى للتعاقد معي، وهي آرسنال وروما ومانشستر يونايتد، وريال مدريد كان بحاجة إلى المال وثمني كان باهظًا”.

روبينيو

جذب روبينيو أنظار كبار الأندية الأوروبية ولقب بخليفة الأسطورة بيليه في ظل موهبته التي ظهرت بوضوح مع نادي سانتوس، ليوقع معه ريال مدريد في عام 2005 مقابل 24 مليون يورو ويهديه الرقم 10، حيث خلف روبينيو لويس فيجو الذي رحل إلى إنتر ميلان آنذاك.

ريال مدريد راهن كثيرًا على روبينيو في عمر الـ21 عامًا، وكان الجناح الأيسر السابق في الموعد، حيث ساهم في فوز الملكي بلقب الدوري الإسباني مرتين متتاليتين موسمي 2007 و2008.

واستمر توهج روبينيو، حيث قاد اللاعب منتخب البرازيل إلى تحقيق بطولة كوبا أميركا عام 2007، في ظل غياب العديد من النجوم عن صفوف السيليساو أمثال رونالدينيو، ورونالدو الظاهرة، وروبيرتو كارلوس، وريكاردو كاكا.

لكن وبشكل مفاجئ طلب روبينيو الرحيل عن صفوف ريال مدريد، في ظل عرض مانشستر سيتي المغري ليوقع في النهاية مع النادي الإنجليزي مقابل 43 مليون يورو خلال صيف عام 2008، واضعًا بذلك حدًا لمسيرة قصيرة ناجحة مع الملكي لم يكتب لها أن تكتمل.

ويلسي شنايدر

خلال فترة رئاسة رامون كالديرون لريال مدريد في الفترة بين عامي 2006 و2009، قام الملكي بالتعاقد مع عدد كبير من اللاعبين الهولنديين والذين كان على رأسهم ويسلي شنايدر، وآريين روبين، وكلاس يان هونتيلار، ورود فان نيستلروي، وروستون درينثي.

وتعاقد ريال مدريد مع شنايدر قادمًا من صفوف أياكس أمستردام مقابل 27 مليون يورو في صيف عام 2007.

ولم ينتظر شنايدر كثيرًا ليضع بصمته مع ريال مدريد، حيث ساهم صاحب القميص رقم 23 في فوز الملكي بلقب الدوري الإسباني بجانب كأس السوبر الإسباني.

وبعد رحيل روبينيو إلى صفوف مانشستر سيتي منح ريال مدريد شنايدر القميص رقم 10.

لكن موسم شنايدر الثاني في ريال مدريد لم يكن جيدًا في ظل معاناة الفريق الأبيض تزامنًا مع رحيل المدرب بيرند شوستر وتعيين خوان دي راموس بدلًأ منه، بجانب استقالة كالديرون من رئاسة الميرنجي، حيث خرج ريال مدريد خالي الوفاض بدون أي لقب.

ومع وصول فلورنتينو بيريز لرئاسة ريال مدريد في ولاية ثانية، قام الملكي بالعديد من التعاقدات وعلى رأسها كريستيانو رونالدو، وكريم بنزيما، وتشابي ألونسو، وريكاردو كاكا.

وفي ظل تواجد هذه الأسماء في تشكيلة ريال مدريد، رحل شنايدر إلى صفوف إنتر ميلان خلال صيف عام 2009 مقابل 15 مليون يورو.

شنايدر أثبت خطأ ريال مدريد سريعًا، إذ لعب دورًا هامًا في فوز إنتر ميلان بثلاثية الدوري الإيطالي وكأس إيطاليا ودوري أبطال أوروبا موسم 2010.

لاسانا ديارا

انضم لاسانا ديارا إلى صفوف ريال مدريد في يناير عام 2009 قادمًا من بورتسموث مقابل 20 مليون يورو، وتم منحه الرقم 10 في بداية موسم 2010.

لكن ديارا لم يلعب بشكل جيد مع ريال مدريد وتخلى عن الرقم 10 لصالح مسعود أوزيل مع بدايًة موسم 2012، قبل أن يرحل عن الملكي في نفس العام إلى أنجي الروسي مقابل 5 ملايين يورو دون ترك بصمة مؤثرة مع العملاق الإسباني.

مسعود أوزيل

تعاقد نادي ريال مدريد مع أوزيل عام 2010 قادمًا من صفوف فيردر بريمن مقابل 18 مليون يورو، عقب تألق اللاعب اللافت مع منتخب ألمانيا في كأس العالم بجنوب إفريقيا مساهمًا في حصول المانشافت على المركز الثالث في العرس العالمي.

وبدأ أوزيل مسيرته مع ريال مدريد بالرقم 23، حيث شكل مع كريستيانو رونالدو ثنائي فتاك على دفاعات الخصوم.

وجعل مستوى أوزيل المميز إدارة ريال مدريد تمنحه الرقم 10 بعد موسم أول ناجح، ليستمر الدولي الألماني السابق في صنع الفارق مع الفريق الملكي في ثاني مواسمه، مساهمًا في حصول اللوس بلانكوس على لقب الدوري الإسباني الغائب عن خزائن ريال مدريد منذ ثلاثة مواسم.

لكن لعنة الرقم 10 أدلت بكلمتها، فعقب نهاية موسم 2013 طلب أوزيل من قبل إدارة ريال مدريد تحسين عقده، ومع الاختلاف على بعض الأمور المالية ووصول جاريث بيل من توتنهام هوتسبير، قامت إدارة الملكي ببيع اللاعب إلى آرسنال في اليوم الأخير من الميركاتو الصيفي مقابل 47 مليون يورو، وهي الصفقة الأغلى في تاريخ الجانرز آنذاك.

خاميس رودريجيز

استطاع خاميس روديجيز، نجم نادي موناكو الشاب، خلال كأس العالم عام 2014 والذي أقيم في البرازيل خطف أنظار الجميع، حيث سجل أربعة أهداف في البطولة ولعب دورًا هامًا في وصول منتخب كولومبيا إلى ربع النهائي قبل الخروج أمام البرازيل صاحبة الأرض.

مستوى خاميس دفع ريال مدريد إلى التعاقد معه مقابل 75 مليون يورو ومنحه الرقم 10 خلفًا لأوزيل.

وكان خاميس في الموعد وفي موسمه الأول مع ريال مدريد سجل صانع الألعاب الكولومبي 17 هدفًا مع الفريق الملكي وقدم 18 تمريرة حاسمة.

لكن حلم خاميس باللعب مع ريال مدريد لم يستمر على نفس الصورة السعيدة، حيث بات بديلًا مع الملكي مع وصول زين الدين زيدان لتدريب الميرنجي.

ورحل خاميس إلى صفوف بايرن ميونخ على سبيل الإعارة لموسمين في البداية، قبل أن يعود ويلعب مع ريال مدريد خلال موسم 2020 وينضم بعد ذلك لصفوف إيفرتون في صفقة انتقال حر.

وعقب نهاية موسم 2017 قررت إدارة ريال مدريد منح الرقم 10 إلى مودريتش، والذي حول هذا الرقم من لعنة على من يرتديه في الفريق الملكي إلى رحلة أسطورية لن تنسى مع العملاق الإسباني.

Sydney Sixers’ WBBL season was all-but over after they fell to a seven-wicket defeat against Adelaide Strikers who in turn kept themselves in the hunt to host the final.Sixers could only post an underwhelming 122 for 8 and Strikers got home with 15 balls to spare, led by the efforts of Katie Mack and supported by captain Tahlia McGrath.As of Saturday night, Sixers still had the slimmest mathematical chance of making the top four but that would be extinguished if Brisbane Heat beat Melbourne Stars on Sunday. As Keshav Maharaj exploded into celebration, having swung Mohammad Nawaz to the fine-leg boundary for the winning runs with the No. 11 for company, waves of relief and elation washed over his team-mates watching from the dressing room. South Africa had thrown off the yoke of the choke by the barest of margins against Pakistan in Chennai to chase successfully for the first time in their World Cup 2023 campaign.The one-wicket win took them level with India on ten points at the top of the table, but ahead on net run rate, though they have played an extra game.The victory was set up by their bowlers – Tabraiz Shamsi and Marco Jansen in particular – who dismissed Pakistan for 270 in 46.4 overs despite them having been well placed at 225 for 5 in the 40th. And when Aiden Markram – who overtook Virat Kohli to become the second-highest run scorer of this World Cup during his innings of 91 – and David Miller were putting together their 70-run stand for the fifth wicket, a South African win looked comfortable. All that changed when Miller edged Shaheen Shah Afridi behind in the 34th over, with the target still 65 runs away.The fine balance appeared to swing South Africa’s way once again as Jansen joined Markram and the pair began to hack at the equation rather than approach it with caution, being South Africa’s last pair of recognised batters. The ball after he clattered Haris Rauf back over his head for a flat six in the 37th over, Jansen spooned a slower ball to Babar Azam at point, leaving South Africa 36 away from the target with four wickets in hand.Fourteen runs later, the legspinner Usama Mir, who came into this game in the 15th over of South Africa’s chase as a concussion substitute for Shadab Khan, picked up his second wicket: Markram’s attempted heave resulting in a leading edge that landed in Babar’s hands once again. South Africa’s last recognised batter was gone with his team still 22 short.Afridi then found the outside edge of Gerald Coetzee and Rauf pulled off a one-handed diving return catch to dismiss Lungi Ngidi. By then, they had poked and prodded their way to within 11 runs of victory. On another day, umpire Alex Wharf might have upheld Rauf’s lbw appeal against the No. 11 Shamsi off the final ball of the 46th over. Not tonight. Pakistan reviewed the not-out decision, only to watch in agony as the ball-tracking showed impact to be umpire’s call. Nine balls later, it was all over – after 25 matches, the 2023 ODI World Cup had its first thriller. While South Africa’s batting performance may have been jittery, their bowling effort – their weaker discipline so far in the tournament – was impressive on a flat surface. After Pakistan opted to bat, it took incisive use of the short ball from Jansen and Coetzee and the smart selection of Shamsi, who turned the ball both ways, to dent their run-scoring.Ngidi returned from a knee niggle that had kept him out of the Bangladesh game to open the bowling alongside Jansen and the pair began with a short ball barrage. One of Jansen’s went over both Abdullah Shafique and Quinton de Kock’s heads for byes, while another from Ngidi, went to the point boundary but South Africa’s relentless approach did not take long to pay off. In Jansen’s third over, Shafique holed out off Ngidi at deep-square leg.In Jansen’s next over, South Africa inserted Heinrich Klaasen at a deep-slip/short-third and Jansen went full and wide. Imam-ul-Haq reached for it, edged and was caught to leave Pakistan 38 for 2 in the seventh over.Markram was introduced in the eighth over – presumably for the match-up with Babar who has not been at his best against spin – and Rizwan continued living dangerously. He chipped Markram wide of cover and batted on to bring up his 2000th ODI run and then hit boundaries of Jansen, Markram and Maharaj to get Pakistan going.With spin at both ends, Rizwan and Babar built steadily and their third-wicket stand grew to 49 before Bavuma called on Coetzee. Used in the enforcer role, Coetzee was up at 140kph and around the helmet from the get-go and it did not take too long for him to have an impact. His fifth ball was a bouncer which Rizwan top-edged to de Kock.Pakistan then promoted Iftikhar Ahmed to No. 5 for the first time in his career, ahead of Saud Shakeel who is reputed for playing spin well. He scored only five runs off the first 14 balls he faced, then hit Maharaj over cow corner for six, Ngidi over midwicket for four but then, just after the halfway stage, failed to read a Shamsi googly and hit it to Klaasen at mid-on.All the while, Babar was ticking along and he went on to bring up a third half-century of this World Cup campaign, off 64 balls. Shakeel and Shadab combined for an 84-run sixth-wicket stand as South Africa’s death bowling struggles appeared to come early. Runs came off the spinners and Coetzee, who eventually broke the stand with a signature bumper. Shadab tried to clear midwicket but gave Maharaj a simple catch. Fifteen balls later, Shakeel threw his bat at a Shamsi delivery close to off stump and nicked off. Pakistan had already used their finisher earlier in the innings and the impact of how far that backfired was clear when neither Afridi nor Mohammad Nawaz came off and Pakistan were bowled out with 20 balls to spare.Pakistan gave Iftikhar a promotion with the ball too, and he bowled the first delivery of the chase down leg side for five wides. Two balls later, Shadab hit his head on the turf while fielding and had to be walked off the field. The eventful start to South Africa’s innings continued when de Kock, the top scorer of the World Cup, took 18 off Afridi’s opening over. Afridi, however, eventually had de Kock caught on the deep-square-leg boundary.Bavuma had a quiet start to his comeback innings, after missing the last two games with a stomach bug, but took on Nawaz. He found boundaries via the sweep, the cover drive and the on drive, then hit Afridi over the inner ring and Haris over midwicket but played one big shot too many as the powerplay came to a close, pulling Wasim to midwicket.Rassie van der Dussen and Markram dealt with the pace from Rauf and Wasim with ease and Markram’s upper cut over deep third off Rauf was the shot of their 53-run stand for the third wicket. While they were batting it was confirmed that Shadab would not be able to take any further participation in the match and his replacement Usama was brought on in the 19th over. He made an almost immediate impact when he pinned van der Dussen on the pads with a topspinner. Van der Dussen reviewed and ball-tracking showed it was going on to clip leg stump. Seventeen deliveries later, Klaasen top-edged Wasim to Usama at deep third and South Africa were stuttering.Markram and Miller then came together to steady the chase with their attacking approach – adding 70 off 69 balls – and though South Africa stumbled again after they were separated, they did not fall short like they had done against Netherlands.

An excellent all-round effort from Curtis Campher and Andy Balbirnie’s half-century helped Ireland win the rain-hit third ODI and win their first men’s ODI series in Zimbabwe 2-0.Career-best bowling performances from Campher and Graham Hume helped restrict Zimbabwe to 197 in 40 overs before Balbirnie, Campher and Harry Tector knocked off the target with 13 balls to spare in Harare.Set a DLS-adjusted target of 201 from 40 overs, Ireland lost Paul Stirling early, but a 70-run stand between Balbirnie and Campher meant that the visitors were set to finish their tour of Zimbabwe on a high barring a spectacular collapse.While Balbirnie struggled to get the ball away in the first ten overs, opting for a more watchful approach on a tricky surface, Campher followed up his half-century from the second ODI with a fluent 40 with six boundaries before a stunning catch from Wellington Masakadza at midwicket denied him consecutive fifties.Balbirnie continued to hold one end down as Tector then went about being the aggressor as they added another 63 runs to consolidate Ireland’s position.Tector got a leading edge to Sikandar Raza off Luke Jongwe on 33 after Balbirnie reached his half-century off 76 balls, but Balbirnie then shifted gears, hitting 32 runs off his next 26 balls, to complete the chase with ease. A six off a Jongwe slower ball and sweep over short fine leg off Raza were the highlights of an innings which saw Balbirnie grow in confidence. In the process, he became just the fourth Irishman to hit 3000 ODI runs.Lorcan Tucker hit back-to-back boundaries to crown Ireland winners of both the ODI and T20I series.Ireland had started well after inserting Zimbabwe as Mark Adair kicked things off with a maiden. Hume gave Ireland the early breakthrough when Tinashe Kamunhukamwe edged him to second slip in the second over and Adair followed it up with another maiden.But Gumbie and Kaitano dug in to ensure Zimbabwe did not lose any more wickets in the first powerplay, despite a couple of edges evading the slips cordon.The two steadily added 43 runs before some sharp fielding from Tector at backward point saw him throw the stumps down to send Kaitano packing in the 14th over. Innocent Kaia, back in the side after being dropped in the second ODI due to Ryan Burl’s concussion, was out lbw to Campher next over. Raza then joined Gumbie at the crease, but just as they started to milk the spinners Theo van Woerkom and Andy McBrine for some quick runs, rain stopped play.When the game resumed after a two-hour delay, Zimbabwe were immediately on the front foot. Raza pulled a Theo van Woerkom drag-down for six while Gumbie got a streaky boundary off Craig Young while trying to steer him to deep third.Gumbie soon got to his second ODI fifty, off 80 deliveries, before Raza swept van Woerkom for four more, to bring up the fifty-run stand for the fourth wicket off 52 balls. The two continued to cash in on anything that was too short or too full, while also rotating strike with regularity.But Campher broke the innings open by having Raza caught at deep midwicket off a pull before bowling Clive Madande through the gate over for a two-ball duck in the same over. Luke Jongwe and Brandon Mavuta tried to play their shots before they both flicked Hume to George Dockrell at deep square leg in near-identical dismissals.Gumbie, who played a number of innovative scoops and ramps in his 106-ball 72, was soon run-out as Masakadza tried to run two after pulling Craig Young to long-on. Masakadza hit 24 off 19 to take Zimbabwe close to the 200-run mark, before he holed out trying to clear long-on.It was a better batting effort after disappointing displays in the first two ODIs, but not enough for Zimbabwe, who now have plenty of ponder as a disappointing streak of results continued.
